Man remanded in prison after pleading guilty for stealing a truck

An Igbosere magistrate court yesterday remanded a 36 year old unemployed man Samuel Ajayi, to prison for allegedly stealing a Truck ‎valued N8million.

Ajayi who pleaded guilty will be remanded in prison custody until when the facts of the case would be heard and he would be sentenced by an Igbosere Magistrate's Court Lagos. 

The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate Owumi Martins and he is facing a count charge bordering on stealing preferred against him by the Police. 

The Prosecutor Inspector Francis Igbinosa told the Court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on September 5, 2017 at about 4am.

He said the incident occurred at Lekki Free Zone, Akodo area in Ajah.  

Igbinosa said that Ajayi stole a Mack Truck with registration No. LSR 680 XG, white ‎colour from where it was parked in front of Hayat Kimya Company, Agbara in Ogun State.

He also alleged that the defendant broke into the Truck through one of the side glass and disconnected the ignition key which enabled him to steal the Truck, property of one Abiodun Salmon, valued N8million. 

The prosecutor said the offence is Punishable Under Section ‎287 (5) (b) (f) (10) of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015. 

However the defendant pleaded guilty to the charge and Magistrate Martins adjourned for facts and sentence. 

Meanwhile the defendant was whisked to Ikoyi prison custody until the next adjourned date when he would be sentenced. 

The case was adjourned till September 27, for facts and sentence.
