The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been given the go ahead by a Court of Appeal in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, to freeze the bank account of the State governor, Ayo Fayose.
Justice J.S. Ikeyegha, who read the ruling of the three-man panel, directed the freezing of Mr Fayose’s Zenith Bank account.
Back in 2016, Justice Taiwo Taiwo of a Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti had ordered the account of Fayose to be defreezed by the EFCC who were carrying out investigations on him with a suspicion of the money being proceeds of illegal activities.
The EFCC further took the case to the Federal High Court in Lagos, showing dissatisfaction of the ruling of the Court of Appeal.
The appellate court has now ruled in the favour of the EFCC.
