The Lagos state magistrate court Igbosere arraigned two construction site workers Emmanuel Udoh and Mohammed Saidu who allegedly beat their co worker to death during a brawl.
The defendants are facing a one-count charge of murder.
The Lagos State Prosecutor, Mr K. N. Bamgbose, told the court that the defendants committed the alleged offence on February 5, 2016, at Ijaye Road, Ojokoro, Lagos.
He said that the duo unlawfully killed one Mukilah Oluseye by beating him to death with their fists.
According to the prosecutor the offence committed is punishable under Section 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
Meanwhile, only one of the defendant's , Udoh, pleaded not guilty to the charge; the second defendant , Saidu, told the court that he understood only Hausa language, therefore did not take his plea.
Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya, however remanded the defendants in prison.
"In view that the second defendant does not understand English language, his plea is to be taken on February 27, when an Hausa interpreter would be available in court," she said.
However the Judge, adjourned the case till May 9 for trial.
