Yesterday, Moses Olawale, a Lagos driver who allegedly raped his colleague after threatening to kill her with a knife, was arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate court sitting in Igbosere.
Olawale who lives at number 10, Caption Godo Street at Iju Ishaga, is facing a one count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse.
The Prosecutor Inspector Peace Chukwudi, told the court that the defendant raped his colleague who is a cook.
She said that the incident took place on March 16, 2020, at about 2a.m, at Onitona Street, in Ikoyi area of Lagos.
Chukwudi said that Olawale raped the victim who is 34 years old, without her consent, at their staff quarters.
" The victim said that she heard a knock at her door and then went to open the door to see who it was, on getting to the door she saw the defendant who entered her room and then picked a knife to threaten her if she refuses to have sex with him.,
She also said that she was only tying wrapper on her chest when the defendant came into her room and demanded for sex".
" The victim further stated that the defendant held the knife on her neck and threatened to kill her, if she doesn't open her legs, for him, adding that she became very scared and then opened her legs for him to rape her in other to save her life".
According to the prosecutor the offence committed is punishable under Section 265 (1) (2) of the criminal law of Lagos state 2015.
However the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
But his plea was not taken.
The Magistrate Mrs O.O Dona Ojo, ordered the defendant's counsel to apply for bail at the High court.
She also ordered that the case file should be duplicated and sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution DPP, for legal advice.
The case was adjourned till April 22, for DPP's advice
