My husband calls me prostitute, my wife steals my money- couple argue in court

Emeka Emmanuel

27 year old Omobolanle Awoyeye and 38 year Awokunle Awoyeye who have been married for seven years clashed into a heated argument in court over reasons why they can no longer remain in the marriage.
Omobolanle approached the Agege customary court to dissolve their seven year old marriage.
In the case of Omobolanle, a mother of two, she argued that her husband is fond of calling her all kinds of names including prostitute and on days she does not respond to his abuses, he beats him up.

"He has beat me up to ten times this year, I am no longer interested in this marriage Omobolanle said

He does not only beat me, he also stopped taking care of the kids and me and he insults my family members and anyone close to me, she said.

On the other hand, Awokunle who is a baker said that his wife steals his money and gives to her ex-boyfriend.
"This is the reason I beat her, "he said.

"She goes about dating different men and this attitude gets me angry and I beat her. She has since moved out of my house. She moved out September last year. I no longer trust her".

She tells people that I don’t take care of my family but she lied because I do take care of them to the best of my ability.

Mr. Philip Williams, the president of the court adjourned the case to 28 March for judgment.
